It is almost difficult to believe any video game could still be going after 13 years, but World of Warcraft has and Blizzard marked the occasion of its European launch anniversary with a tweet containing video and question of when people made their first character. Some players took a closer look at the video and noticed some inconsistencies. World of Warcraft has changed a great deal since its launch, with its many expansions tweaking things, such as spawn locations and graphics, which is exactly what the players caught. Apparently the video show characters in the original spawn locations, which expansions moved, but there are graphics from these expansions present, such as an exclamation mark over an NPC's head, newer character models, improved shadows, and greater draw distance.

The conclusion some of the players examining the footage have come to is the video was made from a working build of World of Warcraft: Classic, which will finally let players return to the original game, without any of the content from the many expansions. While players have been asking for this for quite some time, it was only in November Blizzard announced it was coming, and with the amount of infrastructure work to make it happen, no one knows when we might see the it go live. Seeing potential video from it though is an encouraging sign that work on it is progressing.
