Depending on the system you are running, you might not get the Windows patches to protect against Meltdown and Spectre. According to Microsoft, some AMD chipsets do not conform to the documentation the company has, and this has led to conflicts leaving the AMD devices in an unbootable state. If your system has one of the impacted AMD processors, you will not receive the patches at this time. A list of the impacted AMD CPUs is not provided on the Microsoft page, but Microsoft does say it is working with AMD to resolve the issue.
