Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation v2.2 Released
The v2.2 update for Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation has already been available to players comfortable using Steam's beta feature for games (the Beta tab when you bring up a game's Properties in the Steam Library) but today it has released for everyone. This update brings with it some requested features and a good amount of rebalancing. On the feature side, players are finally able to keep Replays of game to review later. Replays will remove the fog of war, so you can see what everyone was up to as you try to refine your strategies. Modders have also gotten some attention as they can now mod game files, add maps and scenarios, and enable or disable mods.
To help with the game rebalances, Callum McCole of General's Gentlemen joined the team, and the overview video below is from that YouTube channel. The balance changes include refining the counter system, opening up late game tach, making the Substrate less radioactives-intensive, and weakening 'cheese' strategies. Increasing strategic diversity and improving game flow were also focuses of this patch. You can find more information on these changes in a Dev Journal from mid-March.
This patch also adds three new maps: Manannan for 12 players; Aenghus for 10 players; and Brighid for eight players.
