Galactic Civilization III Getting Crusade Expansion
Just last week Stardock released the v2.0 update for Galactic Civilization III and now today they are announcing the "biggest expansion pack" yet made for any of its games: Crusade. This expansion will bring with it an updated graphics engine and some highly requested features, including Interactive Planetary Invasions and Espionage. There will also be a new Citizens mechanic that will allow you to train scientists, engineers, soldiers, diplomats, and merchants.
Every several turns a player will get a citizen, but this is not like the normal population of your worlds. These citizens can be specialized to provide boosts to your civilization, to enhance a planet, or to be spies for manipulating your adversary through sabotage, theft, and assassination.
Another addition is the Civilization Builder, which will allow players to design their own civilization, including all of it ships, from the main menu. These ships can be your own custom design or come from those in the Steam Workshop. By leveraging this feature, players will be able to create the fantasy or sci-fi civilization they want.
Finally, Galactic Civilization III will be getting a new single-player campaign meant to introduce players to the new alien civilizations Crusade will bring with it, along with a story-driven narrative for why the "pink hominids of Sol 3" are not push-overs. Galactic Civilization III: Crusade should be releasing this Spring.
