Accessibility Information Added to Google Maps

Category: Internet

As part of working at Google, employees can use up to 20% of their time to work on personal projects that interest them. Google Drive product manager Rio Akasaka has used that time to add information about wheelchair accessibility to Google Maps. Maps will still rely on Local Guides to answer questions that will provide Google with the information, which can now be found in the Amenities section. This feature is only open in the United States for now, but the database containing the information already has millions of entries.
