SanDisk used the Photokina event in Cologne, Germany this year to show off a 1TB SDXC card prototype, two years after announcing a 512GB model at the same show. The card won't be available any time soon, but it shows that card capacities still have some room to grow. Dinesh Bahal, VP of product management for the Content Solutions Business Unit at Western Digital, talked about how far the company has come since the first 64MB card released 16 years ago stating, "The SanDisk 1TB SD card prototype represents another significant achievement as growth of high-resolution content and capacity-intensive applications such as virtual reality, video surveillance and 360 video, are progressing at astounding rates."
