Razer has been a big part of the Open Source Virtual Reality (OSVR) project since the beginning, with more partners joining the project over time. The team is on hand at E3 this week and is using it to show off its own virtual reality headset, the Hacker Development Kit 2 (HDK 2). The HDK 2 was described as follows: "The HDK [Hacker Development Kit] 2 is equipped with custom designed lenses and an OLED dual-display for a total resolution of 2160 by 1200. It also includes IQE (Image Quality Enhancer) technology for a reduced screen door effect. Capable of displaying VR experiences at 90 frames-per-second, the HDK 2 hardware specifications are comparable to the best virtual reality headsets available now." With this announcement, the VR headset market continues to present more options to consumers, which will hopefully create a better environment for all parties. The previously released HDK remains available at a price of $299.99, "but the quality of the experience and the screen doesn't compare favorably to the Vive or the Rift." The HDK 2 is expected to be available in July at an MSRP of $399.99.
