Journey Back to Tamriel in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, Arriving October 28

Fans of Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls series were hoping for any news during the studio's E3 press conference, but what we got might not be entirely what we were hoping for. It isn't The Elder Scrolls VI, but rather a remaster of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. This remaster updates the graphics engine of Skyrim to take advantage of the new enhancements done in Fallout 4, such as volumetric lighting, redone art and effects, dynamic depth of field, improved snow, better water shaders, and much more. Basically, it brings Skyrim up to the levels modders have brought it to, but without needing to resort to mods for this edition. However, mods are a part of Bethesda games, which is why PlayStation 4 and Xbox One gamers now have access to mods through Bethesda.net. There's no telling just how many already available Skyrim mods will appear on Bethesda.net, but there should be a good number.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition arrives on October 28 for PC, PS4, and XBO. Anyone who already owns Skyrim and all the DLCs (or the Legendary Edition) on PC will receive a free upgrade to the Special Edition. How's that for a freebie?
