Old Malware Continues to Plague Systems

Category: General News
Posted: 03:06PM

Research conducted by Check Point as part of its April 2016 Threat Index indicates that the Conficker worm continues to be responsible for one in six malware attacks, despite first being discovered in 2008. Joining it at the top of the rankings are the Sality virus and the Zeroaccess worm, which have been around since 2003 and 2011, respectively. As malware continues to advance in its complexity and reach, it is quite alarming that malware first introduced nearly a decade ago remains the most prevalent. Numbers like this should help to further emphasize how important it is to be mindful of your actions when using a computer, and continue to keep your system up to date to protect yourself as best as you can.
