To mark the 25th anniversary of the Civilization series of games, which is 2K's longest-running franchise, the publisher has announced Sid Meier's Civilization VI is in development and will launch on October 21, 2016. The Civilization franchise has helped define the 4X genre, and this next entry is meant to push it to new heights again with new features, while remaining true to its foundation.

One of these new features is cities that will actually expand to multiple tiles, allowing the player to make better use of the environment. Also the "one unit per tile" mechanic has been changed some, by allowing units to be embedded with others, such as anti-tank support with infantry. Similar units can also be combined to form more powerful Corps units. Besides those highlights, research will be more active, diplomacy will be change over the course of the game as civilizations advance, multiplayer has been enhanced, and new tutorial systems are being made for new players, while veterans will still be able to jump in.

The game has not been rated yet, but is available for pre-order now with a price of $59.99. A Digital Deluxe Edition is also available, and it includes the base game, 25th Anniversary Soundtrack, and access to four post-launch DLC packs.

I love that the Sunshine theme ends up in so many "epic" trailers and movies. :D  I never got into Civ after Civ 2 or 3, but this deserves a look!

Won't get excited for it, after falling for the hype with Beyond Earth (CIV5 reskinned)
