Get Creative and Win Some Prizes in the Fallout 4 Mod Contest

Mods have officially arrived in the Commonwealth, as the Creation Kit for Fallout 4 recently launched. It provides a comprehensive set of tools to create nearly anything you can think of, which only helps expand what gamers can see and do in Bethesda's newest RPG. The mods are easy to search, download, and install from directly inside of Fallout 4, providing quick access to whatever you want to add into your game. It goes off the already impressive amount of mods available from places like the Nexus, all of which were done without the official tools. Since we do have the Creation Kit at long last, Bethesda and NVIDIA are teaming up for a contest, appropriately called the Fallout 4 Mod Contest. More than $40,000 worth of goodies are up for grabs in it, covering everything from GeForce GPUs to Bethesda gear and cold hard cash.

There are four categories to enter, and the winner of each one gets $5,000, a GeForce GTX GPU, and a Bethesda gift bag. Inside the bag is a Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition for PC, a Fallout 4 Funko Pop! figure, a bobblehead, a Nuka Cola hat, a shirt, and a Vault Boy mask. All twenty finalists (five in each category) receive the GeForce GTX GPU and Bethesda gift bag, too, so anyone moving into the final selection gets a large amount of stuff. Oh, and there's a grand prize winner that gets $10,000, a custom Fallout 4 PC, and engineering support from NVIDIA to continue their modding career and maybe even become a game designer.

So, what does it take to enter this contest? Well, first you need to download the Creation Kit and start creating a mod. It must fit into one of these four categories: Status, Inventory, Data, or Maps. Status mods include UI changes, extra dialogue, new audio, or a utility for others to use. Inventory mods cover new weapons, armor, aid, books, holotapes, or anything else you might find in your inventory. Data mods are for all-new quests created or things to use inside the settlement workshop. Finally, we come to Maps, which can add new towns, settlements, vegetation, environmental areas, and more. Once you've created a mod in whatever category (or categories) you wish, upload it to Bethesda.net along with a screenshot or video showing how it works. Then you enter on the NVIDIA website by July 3, 2016, for the chance at becoming a finalist. Finalists are decided upon by the community, with winners chosen by a fan vote starting on July 11.

Go ahead and grab the Creation Kit, start modding, and see just what happens in the Fallout 4 Mod Contest. Remember, you have from now until July 3, 2016, to create and enter a mod in the contest. Voting begins on July 11.
