Previous rumors indicated that Intel was planning to start production on its next generation Broadwell-E based CPUs in Q1 2016, but Chinese website BenchLife is now reporting that the new chips will be available for purchase in the same quarter. Final software optimization is expected to complete by early January with ES sampling in Q4 2015 and QS sampling shortly thereafter. The source expects an announcement at CeBIT 2016 in March with the possibility of a same day release. Broadwell-E will be the latest entry into the High-End Desktop (HEDT) lineup with six and eight core models available for the X99 platform. Prices are currently estimated at $400 for an entry level CPU up to $999 for the flagship model.
