While Seagate, a world leader in storage solutions, has been offering 8TB hard drives for just over a year now, the company has decided to make a new announcement concerning its storage solution offerings. Seagate has officially announced the Seagate Enterprise Capacity 3.5 HDD, Seagate Enterprise NAS HDD, and Seagate Kinetic HDD, all of which make up the company’s new portfolio of 8TB high capacity drives. The 8TB version of the Seagate Enterprise Capacity 3.5 HDD is tailored towards large enterprise environments that demand excellent performance, capacity, and reliability. Seagate claims that this hard drive features a 100 percent improvement in random read/write performance when compared with previous generations. The 8TB version of the Seagate Enterprise NAS HDD is being marketed to small and medium sized businesses, which require value and scalability in their products. Lastly, the 8TB version of the Seagate Kinetic HDD focuses on reducing the total cost of ownership for various entities by "redefining and greatly simplifying storage architectures for today’s use-case scenarios."

Select customers have been provided with samples of Seagate’s new portfolio of 8TB hard drives, and the company expects wide scale availability of the drives sometime later this year.
