Mozilla Disables Adobe Flash in Firefox

Category: Internet

Mozilla has decided to disable Adobe Flash Player from automatically executing in the Firefox browser after a third zero-day exploit was found over the past week. Flash has long been a target from hackers, needing constant updates and receiving criticism from security experts. Mozilla felt that it was best to disable the software in order to better protect its users, but still gives users the option to proceed after the warning. Senior Firefox support lead Mark Schmidt addressed the decision stating, "Even sans non-vulnerable update, we should consider the risks of blocking the vulnerable Flash versions (i.e. all of them) vs. allowing millions of people to use actively exploited versions of Flash without so much as a warning."
