Amazon Enlists Robot Help to Fill Holiday Orders

Category: General News
Posted: 04:36PM

Amazon is taking advantage of the acquisition of manufacturer of Kiva in 2012 as part of the holiday shopping season, using robots built by the company to increase efficiency in filling the massive amounts of orders it is receiving. The robots drive around the warehouse guided by tape markers and transport racks of merchandise to human workers who then box and ship the items. The robots cut out several miles of walking per day for employees and also allow for better use of warehouse space as they are able to better maneuver than their human counterparts.
