In delivering on its promise to deliver a beta version of Skype Translator to Windows 8 users before the end of this year, Microsoft has revealed that it is now accepting signups for the real-time translation tool. The Skype Translator preview, which is only available for Windows 8.1 computers and tablets, provides real-time translation between participating parties, giving users an on-screen transcript while also reading translations aloud during video chats. While the preview itself only supports a few, unspecified languages at this time, instant message chats in 45 languages can be successfully translated. The list of languages that can be used with the real-time video translation capabilities found in Skype Translator is expected to grow in the near future.

Interested users can sign up for the preview version of Skype Translator through the Skype website.
