Back in April 2013, Nordic Games acquired the Darksiders, Red Faction, and MX vs. ATV franchises from the defunct THQ. Now it seems that the publisher has acquired yet another former THQ IP, de Blob. de Blob is a unique 3D platformer that started off as a student project at the Utrecht School of Arts and Utrecht University, releasing in 2006 for Windows PC. THQ then picked it up and released in on the Nintendo Wii in 2008 to broad critical acclaim, following up with a sequel in 2011 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii.

"de Blob is just a great and truly unique franchise", comments Reinhard Pollice, Business & Product Development Director at Nordic Games. "We are excited about what the future holds for this polychromatic extravaganza as the newest addition to our portfolio. We will evaluate opportunities with the existing games, as well as potential sequels."

No new de Blob game has been announced, but the acquisition will be handled by Swedish-based Nordic Games Licensing AB, while "the day-to-day business (sales and distribution, evaluation of sequels & new content etc.) will be conducted by Nordic Games GmbH, based in Vienna, Austria."
