While the GeForce GTX 980 is currently dominating most of the GPU market with its low power consumption and excellent performance, AMD is looking to release more of its 8GB Radeon R9 290X GPUs in order to compete with the flagship NVIDIA card. According to SweClockers, AMD is planning to launch more 8GB versions of its Radeon R9 290X with three partners, which include Club3D, PowerColor, and Sapphire. At this time, Sapphire is the only manufacturer of the three to have any Radeon R9 290X 8GB cards available, but with increased quantities of Radeon R9 290X graphics cards with 8GB GDDR5 memory, customers will have more choices than ever. Although the cards are not expected to be released until November 6, 2014, the prices for the 8GB Radeon R9 290X GPUs are expected to be 10 percent higher than the 4GB versions.
