Jetpac Acquired by Google
Google has officially acquired Jetpac, a company that provides and maintains a mobile application known as City Guides that recommends destinations based off of analyzed Instagram photographs. The technology offered by Jetpac extracts information from photos that are publically available, and is able to provide customized geographic information through its application. Although Google did not mention exactly how it plans to incorporate the technology offered by Jetpac, the search engine giant will more than likely mesh the analytical technology into its current suite services, as the Jetpac team is set to join Google’s Knowledge team shortly. Jetpac noted on its website that it is excited to work on its existing projects with various team members at Google.
Since the Jetpac team will soon join Google, all applications currently available from the company will be taken off of the App Store on September 15, 2014.
