Leaked roughly an hour early on Konami's official site, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain will both be making their way on Steam. While spin-off Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is on Steam, this will mark the first time the Metal Gear Solid series appears on the platform. Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty were both ported to PC, but are not currently available on Steam; MGSV pre-order bonuses maybe?

The official announcement of MGSV coming to Steam was made during Konami's live Gamescom Twitch stream around 230P ET, at the end of a gameplay demo of The Phantom Pain, where a box dropped on Snake and the camera turns to reveal the Steam logo. A release date has not been revealed, but Ground Zeroes will be available before The Phantom Pain. In addition to the announcement, thirteen new screenshots for The Phantom Pain were released, which can be seen below.
