Twitter Implements Video Advertisements
Twitter has just announced, after months of feedback from users and brands, that video advertisements have been implemented into timelines of its users. The video advertisements, which are currently implemented in a beta form and are featured as Promoted Video, are similar to those featured on Facebook. The largest difference is that Twitter video advertisements do not play automatically, as they require user interaction. This is not only a plus for users who do not want to be bombarded with advertisements upon logging into the social networking service, but also for advertisers, as they only get charged when a user starts playing the advertisement. According to David Regan, the Senior Product Manager of TV and Video at Twitter, "The overall goal is to bring more video into our users’ timelines to create a richer and more engaging Twitter."
