Yahoo CISO Alex Stamos announced at the Black Hat USA 2014 security conference that the company is working on end-to-end encryption for its e-mail client, and it should be available by 2015. The project will use the Google PGP Plugin and will enable encrypted e-mails to be exchanged through the two popular services. The talk, Building Safe Systems at Scale - Lessons from Six Months at Yahoo, was very well received by conference attendees and signifies a shift towards increased security and privacy for users in the "post-Snowden era" of computing.
