Dead Rising 3 on Steam Upgraded to Apocalypse Edition; Includes Four Story DLC
Former Xbox One exclusive Dead Rising 3 is set to arrive on PC via Steam on September 5, and whether you've already pre-ordered the game or have been holding off, I have good news for you. Last night, Capcom announced that the Steam version has received a permanent free upgrade and is now called Dead Rising 3: Apocalypse Edition. The Apocalypse Edition contains the four DLC that was part of the "Untold Stories of Los Perdidos" pack: Operation Broken Eagle, Fallen Angel, Chaos Rising, and The Last Agent. "Each add-on chapter focuses on a different protagonist that ties into the main DR3 storyline and gives players access to crazy new weapons and vehicles that carry over to the main game."
While not directly related to this announcement, I just wanted to take a moment to address another issue some people may be worried about. Dead Rising 3 runs at 30 FPS on Xbox One, which made many PC gamers a bit wary. There is an excellent post in the Steam forum by Capcom's "wbacon" that goes into great detail on how the game runs uncapped. That's right, there is no FPS cap! The post also discusses what settings are "intended" for minimum and recommended specs – something I wish more studios would mention.
Dead Rising 3: Apocalypse Edition will arrive on Steam on September 5 and can be pre-ordered at a 10% discount, bringing the price down to $44.99. Now if only Capcom would include Super Ultra Dead Rising 3' Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX + α to the mix, the PC version would truly be the definitive one. But either way, Capcom has received a lot of flak in the past for its DLC policies, so this is certainly a step in the right direction!
