The Witcher Adventure Game Closed Beta is Underway
The Witcher Adventure Game was announced as a tabletop game back in January, but when The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt release date was announced last month, a digital version of The Witcher Adventure Game was unveiled, with The Witcher 3 GOG.com pre-orders granting two multiplayer closed beta passes. Yesterday, CD Projekt started distributing those closed beta access keys, so if you pre-ordered The Witcher 3 on GOG.com, be sure to check your email.
The purpose of the beta test is actually two-fold: it's obviously meant to test the game and get feedback from players, but it's also meant to test "some parts of the GOG Galaxy online infrastructure powering the multiplayer portion of the digitized board game." The GOG Galaxy "DRM-Free Online Gaming Platform" will officially launch later this year, and this is the first opportunity for players to get their hands on it and for CD Projekt to iron out the kinks before public release. While the Closed Beta requires GOG Galaxy, it should be noted that when the full game goes live, there will be single-player modes, including "hot seat" and "human vs AI", which will be playable offline, outside of the GOG Galaxy client.
