Google Announces Google Drive for Work
Google Drive for Work has been officially announced during Google I/O, the search engine company's annual conference that is geared towards developers. Google Drive for Work is a new, premium offering that is tailored to businesses and includes unlimited storage, new security controls, and advanced audit reporting. The latest Google Drive offering gives administrators more control than ever, and includes Google Apps Vault, which covers all content stored in Drive and is used for search and discovery for compliance needs. Users can store files up to 5TB in size with Google Drive for Work, which is larger than any desktop or laptop hard drive currently on the market. Security is a priority for Google Drive for Work as well, with all files being encrypted not only when stored on Google servers, but also when in transit between Google servers and while being transferred from devices to Google data centers. Google Chrome and Android users can even open Microsoft Office documents in their native format, as Quickoffice has been built directly into Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
Google Drive for Work is available immediately and costs $10 per user, per month. Current Apps customers can upgrade to Google Drive for Work from the administrator console, while potential subscribers can either contact Google or view the Google Drive for Work website for more information about getting started.
