Skype Launches New iPhone Application
Skype users who use the service on their iPhone have long complained about stability and performance issues that plague the application. The development team at Skype has heard these complaints and have just recently released a new and improved version of Skype, labeled as Skype 5.0. This reworked version contains an updated interface that makes use of swiping between pages, animated transitions, and tiles for contacts listed as favorites. Group text chat is included in Skype 5.0 too, in which users can communicate with others and can also share photos and video messages with them. More control over notifications has been added as well, and the system has been improved so as to not display duplicate notifications across multiple devices. The largest improvement to the new Skype application is its speed though, as it is roughly five times faster than the previous version for the iPhone, according to Eric Lin, the Skype Product Marketing Manager.
