DISH Announces Acceptance of Bitcoin
Bitcoin continues to be one of the most popular crypto-currencies available, and DISH today has backed its popularity with its announcement. Beginning in the summer or fall of this year, satellite television provider DISH will begin accepting Bitcoin as a form of payment. Transactions between DISH and its customers will be handled by Coinbase, who also takes care of Bitcoin transactions for other companies such as Overstock.com and Reddit. DISH Chief Operating Officer, Bernie Han, stated within the announcement that the company wants to accommodate individuals who prefer to make transactions with Bitcoin. Although DISH will soon begin accepting Bitcoin as a valid form of payment, the company notes that it will still accept credit cards, debit cards, and bank account transfers.
With this announcement, DISH has become the largest company to accept Bitcoin for goods and services rendered, though more companies may be competing for this title in the near future.
