Watch Dogs Had the Most First-Day Sales in Ubisoft's History
Two weeks ago, Ubisoft unveiled that Watch Dogs was its most pre-ordered new IP in the company's history. But apparently it wasn't done breaking records – today, Ubisoft announced that Watch Dogs "broke the record for the biggest first day sales in Ubisoft history." Yes, greater than any Far Cry, Splinter Cell, Assassin's Creed, and all the other popular Ubisoft franchises. No wonder the Uplay servers have been taking a hit! While Uplay doesn't show player counts, Steam currently shows that nearly 50,000 people are currently playing the game, which only accounts for PC players that actually bought the game through Steam. While that may pale in comparison to Dota 2's 500,000+, it's pretty impressive for a brand new, full-priced IP. I imagine it's toward the top of the play charts for all the consoles as well.
While I have not experienced any issues running the game on my NVIDIA GTX 770, AMD GPU users have complained about a plethora of performance problems and crashing. However, AMD did finally release new beta drivers that reportedly improve performance in Watch Dogs, so if you're a member of the red camp, definitely go pick those up ASAP.
If you're still on the fence and haven't picked up the game yet, be sure to check out my review!
