Star Wars: Attack Squadrons Canceled Just Four Months Into Closed Beta Testing
Free-to-play, browser-based space combat game Star Wars: Attack Squadrons was rather short-lived. After being announced by Disney on December 17, 2013, the game entered closed beta in North America on January 14, 2014. Today, after just over four months of testing, the game was shut down permanently, with a simple message displayed on the official site:
We want to thank all of the fans who participated in the closed beta of Star Wars: Attack Squadrons. After much consideration, we have decided to cease development so that we can focus on other Star Wars game experiences. We truly appreciate the time you spent engaging in the beta.
Here's hoping part of the "focus on other Star Wars game experiences" isn't just Star Wars: Battlefront, but also the resurrection of Star Wars 1313.
