Cox Cable is the latest company to announce that it will begin offering Internet service with download speeds up to 1 Gbps, with plans to offer the upgraded speeds later this year in the Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Omaha markets. The company also plans to install the high speed service in new residential construction projects in other areas that it provides service to, and hopes to roll out the gigabit service to all customers by the end of 2016. Users of the 25 Mbps and 50 Mbps plans, such as myself, will see their speeds doubled to 50 Mbps and 100 Mbps, hopefully at no charge.
