Although Trend Micro just announced a partnership with Facebook yesterday in regards to protecting accounts on the social networking site from malware, F-Secure is doing the same today. F-Secure, an online security and privacy company from Finland, has revealed that it will be providing Facebook users with a free browser-based malware scanner. It is meant for users whose account has been locked due to suspicious activity that may be caused by a possible malware infection. The scanner is fully integrated into the social networking service, and will offer a scan and cleanup process for possibly infected accounts if Facebook identifies one as behaving suspiciously. Once the malware removal process is completed by the scanner, Facebook users can successfully and safely log into their account.
