Three weeks ago, Sapphire announced the R9 290 Vapor-X OC graphics card, so it was only a matter of time before the company followed up with the next addition to the AMD R9 series, the R9 290X Vapor-X OC. Based on the Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture, it features 2816 stream processors, 4GB of GDDR5 memory running at 1410MHz (5.64GB/s effective), and a core clock of 1080MHz. The card is equipped with a Dual BIOS and contains outputs for Dual DVI-D, High Speed HDMI 1.4a, and DisplayPort 1.2, along with support for CrossFire and Eyefinity. Like its predecessor, and as its name implies, the Sapphire R9 290X Vapor-X OC card includes an advanced cooling system using Sapphire's exclusive Vapor-X and Tri-X technologies. The cooler includes a 10mm core heatpipe flanked by two 8mm pipes and two 6mm pipes, along with three 90mm fans and a PCB Component heat spreader. The Sapphire logo lights up based on the temperature the card is running at, going "from blue when cool, through yellow and on to red when running hot."

The Sapphire R9 290X Vapor-X OC should be available beginning today from your favorite Sapphire etailers and retailers.
