Developer Lab Zero Games went all out for April Fools' Day yesterday, adding a brand new character named Fukua to its fighting game Skullgirls. Whereas other game companies may have just stopped at a web page and/or video dedicated to the gag, Lab Zero actually created Fukua, moves and all, and added her in the PC version of the game for all Skullgirls owners to enjoy.
Originally designed to just be available for the one day, Lab Zero CEO Peter Bartholow told Siliconera that "everyone seems to be having fun with her and wants her to stay," so now the studio will be leaving her in the game for a "week or so" to determine whether the community really wants her to stay or whether it's just a fad because of the "newness" of it all. One thing Bartholow did confirm was that the studio would never charge for her – if the community does want her, she'll stay put and will even be rolled out for free on the consoles with the Eliza patch.
So if you're a Skullgirls owner on Steam, you should fire up the game and give her a try just in case she goes away – though it seems highly likely she's here to stay.
