Previously, Plex video playback support was only available on Chromecast to subscribers of the media management service. Plex premium account holders were able to cast their video collection onto their television from a smartphone by using Google’s latest HDMI streaming media player. Now, all Plex users will be able to do the same, as Plex has released an application update that expands the feature set and availability of the media management application. Besides the wider audience that Plex is sure to reach now due to the update, the company has added content mirroring which allows users to cast details onto a television while browsing available media. Content filtering is now present as well, providing users of Plex the ability to filter media dependent on various factors.

Users can access the new features found within the Plex update, to include Chromecast steaming, by simply updating their Android or iOS application.
