While the first season of House of Cards has been available for purchase on other services such as Amazon Instant Video and VUDU, it remained largely unavailable through cable providers. Comcast is now changing the trend however, with a new pact between Sony, which handles home video and international distribution of House of Cards. The major cable provider has struck a deal with Sony Picture Home Entertainment, in which the latter allows the former to sell customers the popular television series through its newly launched Xfinity Store. Comcast customers who would like to watch the first season of House of Cards can purchase access to the television show without a Netflix subscription.
