Verizon Looking Into Launching an Online Video Service

It wasn't too long ago when the Walt Disney Company announced it was launching a cloud movie service, and now Verizon seems to be following suit. Verizon is apparently in talks with various content providers to bring web-based TV services to mobile devices, most likely using Verizon's FiOS service. No other information is known about what Verizon intends with the talks, but chief executive Lowell McAdam sounds optimistic that a deal will be done before long. Verizon could also deliver the content via cellular networks instead of just FiOS, but we'll have to wait and see what happens in that regard. All of this may seem a bit unexpected, however Verizon did acquire the Intel Media division in January with the hopes of developing next generation video services. It looks like the telecom didn't want to sit on that any longer than it needed to, especially if this new video service launches before long.
