New Batman Announcement May Be Coming Next Week; Rocksteady May Be Involved
According to some information and rumors unearthed by Kotaku, we may get the reveal of a new Batman title from developer Rocksteady as early as next week. GameStop has received a shipment of new Batman banners featuring the Batman symbol ringed with flames, which Kotaku has discovered are "not to be hung up until the week of March 3." A few weeks ago, there was apparently a press event held at Rocksteady with an embargo in March, which means the timelines match up. In addition, with March 3 being the first Monday of the month, that's typically when Game Informer does its cover reveals, like it did for Evolve. Arkham Origins happened to receive the Game Informer cover treatment last year.
While Rocksteady developed Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, Warner Bros. Montreal developed Arkham Origins, which means the studio has had over two years to work on a new iteration. While there is no solid evidence that a new Batman game will be revealed, it definitely seems like something involving Batman will be. With Arkham Origins' Cold, Cold Night DLC already unveiled, it seems unlikely it would simply be that, however it should be noted that the Batman symbol was ringed with frost for that DLC, which is obviously the polar opposite (no pun intended) of the fire-ringed one.
We'll find out in roughly three days.
