Lacie has announced a 25TB version of the 5big external storage device, made possible by new 5TB hard drives. Users will be able to access their data using a Thunderbolt connection at speeds up to 785MB/s. Lacie suggested that it will be strong in applications such as "heavy-duty multimedia tasks on computers like the Mac Pro," and cited "a growing need for more storage with the emergence of 4K video, which carries a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels." The 25TB 5big is available on the Lacie website at an MSRP of $2,499.
