PhiSix, a company that specializes in three-dimensional modeling of clothing, has been acquired by eBay for an undisclosed amount. PhiSix is a computer graphics company that is able to take patterns and photos of clothing and turn them into three-dimensional models, which can then be placed upon virtual men and women. The goal of this process is to show how clothes, such as jeans, shirts, and dresses, naturally fit on a human body. eBay is hoping to use the technology to its advantage in order to reduces its costs associated with product returns. By implementing the technology developed by PhiSix, eBay plans to allow customers to view how clothes would fit their body as long as accurate measurements are provided.
