Opera Max, which is an application that uses server side compression in order to promote data savings for smartphone users making use of cellular coverage, is now available for users to download in a public beta form. The application takes on others, such as Onavo Extend, which also compress data for users. The data that is compressed by Opera Max must be unencrypted, and all data that is transferred through a smartphone which meets this requirement can be compressed for optimal data savings. Interested users can visit the Google Play Store to download the application, though once it is opened, Opera Max will notify users of how many others are waiting in a queue. As of now, Opera is slowly letting users have access to Opera Max as it revamps its servers to handle the additional load it expects from the new mobile data compression application.

It is worth noting that Opera Max is only available for users running Android 4.0 and higher on their smartphone.
