Remember Me Developer DONTNOD Filing For Bankruptcy?Category: Gaming

According to international reports, Remember Me developer DONTNOD Entertainment has filed for the French equivalent of bankruptcy, "redressement judiciaire." As a gamer, it's always sad to see something like this happen to a game studio, but this is particularly sad for me because I actually reviewed Remember Me here at OCC back in June of last year and found it to be quite an engaging experience.
When people have asked me about Remember Me, I've said it's the Hidden Gem of 2013 and I still stand by that. I was really hoping we'd get a sequel or prequel, but now the likelihood of that seems slim. Of course it's quite possible that publisher Capcom holds the IP and will employ another studio to take over, but until/unless that is confirmed, it's simply wishful thinking.
While I personally reviewed the PC version, if you own a PlayStation 3 and are a PlayStation Plus subscriber, Remember Me will be free in North America some time in February as part of the Instant Game Collection. European subscribers already received the game in November of last year. Of course, playing it for "free" won't exactly help DONTNOD's situation, but maybe if enough people enjoy the game, Capcom will produce a follow-up.
