Intel Plans to Close Its App Store
Opened in 2010 and aimed at the netbook market that was emerging at the time, the Intel AppUp Center offered applications that were tailored towards netbook products. Intel has just announced that the Intel AppUp Center will be closing on March 11, 2014, but provided no specific reason due to the shutdown. It is worth identifying that the netbook market at this time is almost nonexistent within the United States, and the lack of market could represent a reason for the app store closure. The company did state that by closing its application store, it will be able to focus more on developing the next generation of platform innovation. An area on an Intel FAQ identifies that some applications that require the AppUp client may stop working after May 15, 2014.
