Although not the first United States online retailer to start accepting Bitcoins, TigerDirect is the first major electronics retailers to accept the digital currency. TigerDirect announced on its Twitter page that its CEO, Robert Leeds, signed a contract that enables the retailer to allow customer to use Bitcoins to purchase over 200,000 products available through the TigerDirect website. However, physical TigerDirect stores are excluded from the ability to accept Bitcoin as a valid form of payment on products. The electronics retailer is making use of its announcement to further promote its Bitcoin mining catalog, which features predominately AMD products. TigerDirect is even offering information on its Bitcoin page on how to get started with Bitcoin mining.
