While only iPhone 5C devices with damaged screens are eligible to be repaired onsite, Apple Stores are moving in the right direction compared with their previous way of handling broken screens. Before the new repair implementation policy, Apple sent all iPhones with broken screens to an offsite repair center to be fixed, costing the customer $229. Apple Stores are now able to fix iPhone 5C screens in-store while customers browse new devices or simply wait for theirs to be repaired. The cost is substantially lower as a result, now running $149 instead of $229, a difference of $77 for iPhone 5C owners. Not all iPhone 5C screen issues are able to be fixed however, as severe screen damage will still have to be repaired using the previously employed method of shipping the device to an offsite location.
