In a marketing attempt made by Hewlett-Packard, the computer manufacturer is once again offering consumers desktop and laptop machines that run Windows 7. HP is hoping to boost sales by offering a $150 discount to select computers that run Windows 7 and feature either an Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processor. While Windows 8 and 8.1 machines are still available for purchase from HP, the home section of the computer manufacturer’s website is heavily geared towards its current offer of Windows 7.

Windows 8 and 8.1 have been making significant gains in market share since their initial release, but Windows 7 machines still hold the majority of the market with 47.5 percent of all desktop PCs running the four year old Operating System.
