Intel Plans to Reduce Staff in the Coming Year
Intel is the latest company to announce that it plans to reduce its number of employees as a method of cutting costs, with "about 5 per cent" of the company expected to be hit. The announcement comes after a year in which total earnings were down around 1%, totaling $52.7 billion. Senior manager of corporate and financial public relations Chris Kraeuter added some clarification stating, "When we talk about reduction of the workforce there are a number of things that can happen. It could include redeployments, voluntary programs, retirements, and through attrition. All are options so it would be wrong to conclude this is a layoff."
