Sprint today announced at CES the introduction of a new group plan that takes not only family into account, but friends as well. The new Sprint Framily plan allows additional people to make use of an account, permitting up to 10 individuals to be added with each person under the plan receiving a separate bill. Upgrades take place individually as well per the requirements of the plan, with phone upgrades being paid either in full or through an installment program. As of now, it seems as if anyone can be added into a Sprint Framily plan, including acquaintances and complete strangers. The goal of the new plan is to bring in more customers by marketing the incentive of a reduced cellular bill, offering discounts on each line as more people get added.

While current customers are able to move to the new plan, existing Sprint accounts cannot be under the umbrella of the Framily plan unless both accounts are owned by the same individual.
