Steam Stats Mishap Leaks Unannounced Games
It's quite possible someone at Valve just lost their job today; not that I would ever wish that upon someone. Earlier today, when users visited the Steam Stats page, instead of being treated to the usual list of games, they were treated to a behind-the-scenes look at non-public games currently being played by developers and testers. While there can be no solid confirmation of such an occurrence – and Valve will likely remain silent on the leak – more than one Steam user posted about the list and of course there are supposed screenshots to prove it.
What makes this newsworthy is that there are several games in the list that have never even been announced, including Killing Floor 2, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate HD (currently only available on the Vita and 3DS), BattleBlock Theater (currently an XBLA-exclusive), Half Minute Hero Two, and a new Hitman game. While the leak was obviously unsuspected, there were some developers that seem to have been prepared, with games sporting such names as Unnamed Project, Super Secret Project 1, and Untitled Game. Here's hoping one of those is Half-Life 3! Hey, a man can dream, right?
You can view a full list of games with actual links, which adds some validity to the leak – though you'll obviously be unable to confirm that the links themselves are indeed legit without actually being one of the developers. There's also a screenshot, in case you wanted some more evidence. Whether it's valid or not, it's important to note that just because a game is in development, doesn't actually mean it'll ever see the light of day, but it's still an interesting list to take a look at.
