Valve Reveals the Manufacturer List for the First Gen Steam Machines
CES is upon us, which means a ton of new products and technology being revealed for the first time. One such product is Valve's Steam Machines, with the company announcing the manufacturer list of the first generation systems. We've already seen the ones from CyberPowerPC and iBuyPower, but those are just the tip of the iceberg, as Alienware, Alternate, Digital Storm, Falcon NW, GigaByte, Maingear, Material.net, Next Spa, Origin PC, Scan, Webhallen, and Zotac are also joining the party. A variety of configurations will be available from these companies later this year, with prices starting as low as $499 for a basic model. There will, of course, be higher end systems with a larger price tag, but the specifications should rival some of the best high-end PCs today.
All the Steam Machines come with a Steam Controller and run SteamOS, so you'll be able to play pretty much any game on Steam with ease. I suspect more specifications from all of Valve's manufacturing partners will be coming out in the next few days, so be sure to keep it tuned to see just what each one will have in store.
