More layoffs are being announced from technology giant Hewlett-Packard. HP has now publically revealed that it plans to layoff a total of 34,000 employees by October 2014, which is 5,000 more employees than previous projections made in May 2012. Currently, HP has a total of 331,800 employees and is claiming that it is downsizing due to the combined pressures of the market and business overall. Meg Whitman, CEO of HP, stated that the company is taking a new direction and is now focusing more on multiple Operating Systems, multiple architectures, and multiple form factors. Despite the employee cuts, Whitman noted that HP is moving quickly to produce devices that customers want to purchase.
